When a patient asks AI search for a dentist in Parramatta, your practice doesn't come up yet. The good news is that the practices that do come up are doing simple, fixable things, listed in your fix list below.
A page for every question. The practice named for all three needs has separate pages for "Emergency Dentist Parramatta", for its 7-day hours, and for individual dentists who mention children and nervous patients. AI search matches questions to pages, so more focused pages means more chances to be picked.
Plain facts written out in words. Leaders spell out "open Saturday", "same-day emergency appointments", their health funds, languages spoken and even prices (one lists a check-up and clean at $185 without insurance). AI tools quote facts like these directly.
Questions answered on the page. Several leaders have a short FAQ ("Do you offer emergency appointments?" "Are you open on weekends?") that reads almost exactly like the patient's question.
Directories count. Two practices rated 5 stars with 100+ Google reviews were only found through a review directory (dentistrynearme.au), not their own website. Directories like this, Birdeye and HotDoc are where AI search often looks.
Good reviews alone aren't enough. Practices with excellent ratings were still missed for emergency and nervous-patient questions, because nothing on their pages talked about those needs.
4. Your fix list
In order. The first three are the biggest wins and need no technical skills.
Write your opening hours, Saturday hours and "same-day emergency appointments" in plain text on your home page. Not only in an image or a booking widget. About 30 minutes · big impact
Add three pages: "Emergency dentist Parramatta", "Dentist for nervous patients" and "Children's dentist Parramatta". Each one says who it's for, what you offer, your hours, health funds and how to book. Half a day · big impact
Add an FAQ with the exact questions patients ask ("Are you open Saturday?", "Do you bulk bill kids under the CDBS?", "How much is a check-up and clean?"). 1–2 hours · big impact
Claim and complete your directory profiles on HotDoc, Birdeye and dentistrynearme.au, with matching name, address, phone and hours. 1 hour · medium impact
Complete your Google Business Profile, including services, Saturday hours, accessibility, languages and booking link. 30 minutes · medium impact
Ask happy patients to mention what you helped with in their review ("great with my nervous son", "fitted me in the same day"). Specific reviews give AI tools something to quote. Ongoing · medium impact
Write a short profile for each dentist with their special interests (children, anxious patients, implants) and languages spoken. 1–2 hours · medium impact
5. How we checked (and the limits)
Each question was run through an AI search engine (Parallel Search) on 23 October 2026, the same kind of live web search that AI assistants use to look up local businesses. We recorded every practice named and the page it came from. This check did not ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity directly.
AI answers change from day to day and from person to person, so treat this as a snapshot, not a fixed ranking.
Following the fix list improves your chances, but no one can guarantee what an AI assistant will say.
